Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Mining Operations Expert with strong expertise in large-scale mining operations and working knowledge of accounting principles. The ideal candidate will work closely with operations teams across Africa, ensuring efficiency, safety, and alignment with customer requirements. This role demands extensive travel and hands-on involvement at mining sites.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Mining Operations
- Oversee end-to-end mining activities across multiple African sites.
- Drive operational efficiency, safety compliance, and best practices.
- Evaluate current mining processes and implement improvements.
- Coordinate with on-ground teams for production monitoring, planning, and resource allocation.
- Ensure adherence to environmental and regulatory standards.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with operations, finance, supply chain, and leadership teams.
- Support customer discussions with operational insights and updates.
- Act as a key bridge between field operations and management.
Accounting & Financial Exposure
- Work with finance teams on budgeting, cost analysis, and operational expenditure.
- Provide insights on cost drivers, variance drivers, and operational profitability.
- Support financial reconciliations related to mining activities.
Travel & Site Engagement
- Frequent travel to Africa for site supervision, process reviews, and audits.
- Hands-on involvement at mine sites to ensure smooth operational performance.
Profile Description
- 12–15 years of hands-on mining operations experience in large, complex environments.
- Strong understanding of mining processes, production planning, and safety standards.
- Exposure to basic accounting/costing concepts.
- Ability to travel extensively and work in challenging environments in Africa.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
